01. Tour Of Flanders
Flanders is known for many things: stories of tough guys and legendary riders during the Tour of Flanders, De Ronde in Flemish, who defy the elements on a bike, the story of those famous cobblestone ‘walls’ that break cyclists or even further back in history, the fields of Flanders which were the sinister background to the horrors of the First World War. Flanders is rich in history and that is why it represents an ideal playground for alternative gravel exploration for Laurens Ten Dam and Stefan Bolt, hosts of the Live Slow Ride Fast podcast and for Paul Errington, organizer of gravel events.
02. Alpes d'Huez
Every year, since nearly half a century, the climbing of Alpe d’Huez and its 21 switchbacks are highlighted during the Tour de France. It thrills the pro cyclists and gets the crowds going. With its 1121m of elevation gain, a 14.454 Kms length, an average slope of 7.9% and maximum climb rates at 14%, it became a myth, a real challenge for all cyclists. We wished to explore Alpe d’Huez a little bit differently with « The Alternative ». With the hope to escape the crowds, run away from the hot asphalt smells and open our eyes to the incredible Oisans valley landscapes. Follow us, we will show you the way.
